Fragmented work
The customer request, the spreadsheet, the message thread, and the staff action all tell different versions of the same story.

> learning how the work actually moves.
Engineers for the work behind the work.
VALO learns how a growing South African business actually works, finds the bottleneck, and builds the smallest complete custom-software system around it.
why this matters
We are against fragmentation, poor fit, repeated work, lost ownership, and dependency without value. The goal is not more software. It is a business that is easier to operate, understand, and grow.
The customer request, the spreadsheet, the message thread, and the staff action all tell different versions of the same story.
A generic system asks the business to abandon the workflow that makes it distinctive.
The business keeps paying or surrendering control without gaining a clearer operation, stronger customer relationship, or dependable record.
We find the bottleneck - where work is slow, manual, or held together by WhatsApp.
We shape the right solution: platform, admin tool, or a website that converts.
Stable architecture, mobile-first, built to survive real daily use.
We stay close after launch and refine the system as you grow.
Order flows, workflow tools, member portals - one system replacing five spreadsheets.
Sites and storefronts built to convert browsers into customers, not just look good.
Payments, messaging, APIs, admin tooling - wired together so nothing falls through.
We stay on after go-live. Systems get refined as your business does.
Storefront + Operations Portal
A premium mineral water brand needed to sell online and run the back office from one place.
Manual order-taking on WhatsApp, no catalogue, no way to track a custom-label print run.
One codebase, two fronts: the public storefront and the staff portal read the same order and quote data - nothing retyped, nothing out of sync.
A Phase 1 storefront and browser-backed operations experience covering catalogue, cart, checkout, custom-label quotes, orders, and reporting. Production persistence and secure backend operations are separately scoped.
Tender Intelligence · Built In-House
Our own product: South African businesses miss government tenders buried in noise.
Thousands of live tenders across provinces, no way to tell which ones fit a company's profile.
A FastAPI core ingests new tenders daily, scores each one against the company profile with Claude, and flags compliance documents before they expire.
A platform that scores every tender against your company with AI, tracks compliance document expiry, and manages the bid from discovery to submission.
Multi-Tenant Compliance SaaS
Compliance teams needed one system for documents, incidents, contractors, and inspections.
ISO-linked paperwork spread across drives, no audit trail, no tenant isolation between clients.
Tenant-isolated Spring Boot services where every action lands in an immutable audit trail - and the whole stack rebuilds from Terraform.
A secure multi-tenant SaaS with full audit trails, contractor compliance tracking, and inspection records.
Brand + Sponsor Funnel
A youth football academy needed one site to win two audiences: families booking trials, and businesses considering sponsorship.
No digital presence, and no way to move a sponsor conversation past a PDF proposal.
A fast public site backed by an admin portal that tracks every sponsor from first contact to signed deal, alongside member renewals and shop orders.
A fast marketing site plus an admin portal running the prospects pipeline, member renewals, and shop orders. VALO is proud to be the academy's technology partner.
We power Golden Knights Soccer Academy's site and sponsor pipeline - proof we build for the field, not just the boardroom.

Cost depends on the catalogue and checkout rules, user roles, operations workflows, integrations, data migration, and support required. We first identify the smallest complete release that removes a real bottleneck, then provide a written scope and planning range after focused discovery. A catalogue and checkout is a different build from a platform that also runs staff operations, reporting, and accounting integrations.
A focused first release typically takes 6 to 12 weeks. Complex integrations, data migration, or several operational workflows can extend that timeline. We deliver working software in reviewable increments so incorrect assumptions are found early and the first useful workflow reaches production sooner.
We assess the current workflow and bottleneck, design the smallest complete system worth shipping, build it in reviewable increments, and prepare the critical path for production. After launch, we support the system and use evidence from real operation to decide what should improve next.
Our common stack includes React and TypeScript for interfaces; Spring Boot, FastAPI, or Node for backend services; PostgreSQL for reliable data; and AWS for cloud infrastructure. The stack follows the operating need, security boundary, and support requirements rather than forcing every project into the same template.
Yes. Launch is the start of operating the system, not the end of the engagement. Support can include monitoring, fixes, operational assistance, security and dependency updates, and evidence-led improvements as the business and its users change.
Use off-the-shelf software when your workflow is standard and a proven product already handles it cleanly. Custom software becomes worthwhile when the process differentiates the business, carries unusual pricing or compliance rules, or has become load-bearing work that generic tools cannot model without repeated manual work and disconnected plugins.
We design around data minimisation, HTTPS, role-based access, audit needs, retention, backups, and the third parties that process information. Those controls are agreed against the real workflow and risk. Technical design supports POPIA responsibilities, but it does not replace the business’s legal assessment or professional legal advice.
Yes. VALO is based in Midrand and works with businesses across South Africa. Most delivery can run remotely with regular working reviews; we collaborate in person around Midrand, Johannesburg, and Pretoria when it materially helps discovery, rollout, or training.
